Use it to predict when the pups will arrive
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
Rupert is my stud dog he is 6yrs, KC Reg and available for Poodles, all Spaniels especially Cockers and labradors ect, to produce interesting, healthy, low to non-moulting puppies.
Rupert is is 16.5 inches tall and is a lovely chocolate brown. Most importantly Rupert has a fabulous temperament, he is a born comedian who loves to please and like most poodles he is not snappy. He is devoted to my children and very intelligent. His daughter has once again qualified for Crufts 2008 (miniature poodle)
Rupert has all his vaccinations up to date and has tested negative for CANINE BRUCELLOSIS and CANINE HERPES which he will be tested for every 3 months.
Canine Brucellosis causes Female bitches in pup to abort the pups at around 7 weeks old and can cause SERIOUS health risks to the female who will then have to be spayed. The infected stud dog must also be castrated as he will continue to infect any girl he has contact with.
Dogs and Bitches are tested for this by a blood test costing on average £55 results are back usually after 5 days.
Canine Herpes Virus occasionally causes Fading Puppy Syndrome. Puppies are infected by exposure to nasal or vaginal secretions of adult carriers. The virus spreads rapidly in kennels but only causes disease in very young puppies (under 3 weeks old). In these puppies the virus spreads throughout the body via the bloodstream and it is capable of replicating within many organs. The signs of Canine Herpes Virus infection include inappetance, diarrhoea, a painful abdomen (tummy) and vomiting. Puppies usually die within 1-2 days of showing signs. No vaccine is available. Since the virus survives best at lower temperatures, keeping young puppies warm will help to prevent infection.
Dogs and Bitches are tested by a swab costing around £55 results are back within 1 week.
When a girl is in season she is at greater risk of being exposed to infection. This is due to the vulva swelling up and being in contact with the ground when going to the toilet. This then makes it very easy for her to pick up bacteria which can lurk in the soil and can infect her with viruses like canine herpes.
To prevent this you must exercise your dog away from areas that are popular with dog walkers. I also recommend that your girl to go on a course of antibiotics as soon as she comes into season to clear up any infection she may be harbouring.
I believe these tests are very important for any Stud dog owner to consider for the saftey of visiting girls and it is a precaution that I take for the safety of my dogs, above all they are part of the family.
Rupert has been given a complete health check by my vet to ensure he has no medical conditions that would be passed on to his puppies, he has clear eyes and has a CURRENT BVA CLEAR EYE CERTIFICATE His stud fee is £250.
If you would like your girl to meet Rupert then please ring me (before your girl comes into season if possible)
I am now recommending that as soon as your girl comes into season to ask your vet if she can be put on to antibiotics for 2 weeks. This is a precaution that I have discussed with my vet as a safeguard to Rupert and the girls that he services.
I am now using Mate Tel to predict the best time for a mating. This is 98% accurate. If you are travelling a distance please ring me and I will advise you.
I will provide every litter of puppies that Rupert sires, Space on my website with your contact details,
photographs of all new litters and their dams,
Ruperts pedigree going back 5 generations,
A copy of his clear Eye certificate,
A guarantee of Ruperts health to the best of my vets knowledge and tests.
I do not accept any stud fee until there is a tie when a mating occurs, unless its a Labrador, as assistance is usually always required.
I don't tend to do repeat matings as I don't believe this is necessary I will make exceptions though, these include your bitch is not fully ovulating, it is a Labrador and I have had to assist to cover all of the season, I will do a repeat 48 hours after or 3 days after the first mating.
I do not house bitches here because I like Rupert to have 48 hours between matings. It could cause stress for the bitch to be away from home during her season and this is not conducive to a good mating, but again I will make exceptions for cirtain circumstances. Please ring with your requirements.
If no litter follows I will provide a FREE mating when your bitch next comes into season.
It would be lovely, if your breeding your Bitch, if you would be willing to have your details passed to either Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Dogs for the Disabled or Canine Partners, who would then contact you to see if any of your pups could be suitable for training. This is NOT a condition of use. Go to my Links page for links straight to the charities website and info on how to donate pups or just make a cash donation. Ruperts Stud fee is £250
