I have been a volunteer at my local Gateway Club now for 3 years and I absolutely love it.
Gateway Clubs are located throughout the British Isles and are a place where anyone with disabilities can go and socialise. They create a safe enviroment where peole can go and mingle with others and build up friendships.
Members can choose whether to join in with others playing games or making things that can take home at the end of the evening or maybe just chating and making new friends. We also hold regular Discos and events and arrange for members to go to Pantomines, Day Trips and Holidays.
As I'm an artist I help out with the arty side of Gateway and encourage members to try somthing new like working with clay.
Below are some pics of Members painting their clay models that they made. Their faces say it all!
If you have an evening free and want to do somthing worthwhile and rewarding I can think of nothing better then volunteering at your local Gateway club, its also a huge amount of fun!
